Okay, I confess that in the past I have been one of those people who began a blog, but did not keep up with it; becoming distracted with matters I deemed more pressing.
According to “Blog Basics,” a blog is simply a frequently updated online personal journal or diary. In the past, I have preferred to keep my thoughts inside my personal journal away from public view. Also, I enjoy using a pen to journal, rather than a key pad.
Therefore, it has been hard for me to justify why I should throw my personal laundry out there for all to see. On top of that, I have never thought that what I would write in my journal would be all that profound or reader worthy. Having said all that, I will give it a go here.
I am in my early 60s and I am just now coming into the fullness of the prophetic calling and assignment God has designed for me.
Believe me, if you are 50 or older, God is not through with you. In fact, you are wiser, more experienced and more creative than you have ever been in your life. Unfortunately, the physical-aging-body doesn’t always feel like it is cooperating with what is happening in the Spirit.
It feels weird when the body doesn’t want to work, but prophetic vision for the future is firing on all cylinders. God must have more insight into the aging process than we do and knows we can handle it. I just had my 100-year-old spiritual mother pray for the meniscus tare in my left knee and immediately felt pain leave. I use to think 60 was old, but, it is all relative as they say.
Bill Johnson sums it up nicely: “Gifts are free, but maturity is expensive.”
There is something to be said for one’s years of spiritual growth and experience. I know many young people who are extremely wise for their age, but they have not physically walked their wisdom out in years. That is what spiritual mothers and fathers bring to the table when age groups minister together.
Sons and daughters have the capacity to run fast and far with the vision God gives them. My greatest joy in living out this season of ministry is in creating something I can pass onto a spiritual son or daughter to run with; taking the vision faster and farther then I am about to.
